Man is the Architect of His Fate
God
has endowed man with reason and intellect. Such charisma makes him supreme from
other creatures. There are two dominating factors, nature and nurture, which
help in grooming the personality of man. Nature relates charisma while nurture
means a conducive environment.
Failure lies in thoughts, not in
the deeds and this spirit may be reflected through the resolute character of an
old man “old man and the sea” who considers failure as a mental state. He
believes that “every day is a new day” and “a man can be destroyed but cannot
be defeated”. Islam promotes the same philosophy that disappointment is sin.
Disappointment is more related to our mental capability as compared to the
physical one. Our actual motivation lies in our mind and our body is merely the
agent to perform the dictations of mind. Shakespeare claims: Fault lies not in
our stars but in our own selves that we are underlying.
A person who stands still against
all odds and constructs himself positively is ultimately successful. If one
acquires a negative and lethargic attitude like Faustus and Macbeth, he would
be responsible for his own destruction. As Shakespeare relates: Nothing is good
or bad. Our thinking makes it so. The winds are always on the side of the
ablest navigator.
Nelson Mandela, a century tower,
spent many years behind bars just to fight against Apartheid. Similarly,
Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah through his indefatigable efforts and
charismatic personality changed the cartography of the world. Barack H. Obama,
owing to his personal traits, has raised to the status of U.S. President. Man
is the architect of his own fate as he is not waiting for an opportunity to
knock at his door.
Before him, the opportunity is a
state of mind that requires a prompt response and a proper attitude to take
certain risks. A person, willing to accept change, works hard, and resides in
his faculties, will be able to materialize his dreams. It should be
kept in mind: one should not wait for their dreams to come true rather one has
to learn how to make them come true.
